Panasonic revealed the Panasonic LUMIX TS20 digital camera camera today.  The new digital camera is built with a rugged new design that will be completely waterproof up to 16 feet (5 meters) in depth.  The LUMIX TS20 will also be shockproof up to an estimated 5 feet.  That should definitely come in handy for those who are clumsy or will be using a digital camera on-the-go.  Basically you’ll be able to take this camera with you wherever you are going.  It’s dustproof and freezeproof being able to handle temperatures reaching 14 degrees F.

The photo capturing technology in the LUMIX TS20 is pretty impressive as well.  It features 16.1 Megapixels photo taking capability with a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens that will definitely be useful for taking massive landscape shots.  There is also a 4x optical zoom that can be extended all the way to 8x via the Intelligent Zoom function that uses the Panasonic Intelligent Resolution technology.

The Panasonic LUMIX TS20 is only good for photo taking, however.  This flat and slim camera can capture 720p High Definition video all in MP4 format.  You can also use the 4x zoom feature while filming in HD.  Your videos can also be uploaded straight to YouTube via the software that comes with it.

One of the coolest features I think is the Panasonic iA mode that will automatically setup your camera’s settings to take the best picture possible based on your situation.  The Panasonic iA technology used on the LUMIXTS20 includes AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure, Face Recognition and MEGA O.I.S.  If you don’t know what all of that means, then don’t panic.  It just means that you’ll be able to take awesome photos without having to jumble around with a ton of advanced photo settings.

The Panasonic LUMIX TS20 will hit the market in February 2012 according to Panasonic.  It will come in blue, black, red and orange varieties and it will have a price tag of $179.99.
